Tsering Shakya
Born in Lhasa in 1959, his family fled to India after the Chinese invasion.
Today, Tsering is a widely published scholar on both historic and contemporary Tibet.
The Dragon in the Land of Snows: A History of Modern Tibet Since 1947 was acclaimed as “the definitive history of modern Tibet” by The New York Times.
Tsering has addressed the European parliament and is regularly invited to advise governments on Tibet/China policy. He currently works for Radio Free Asia’s (RFA) Tibet news service, the BBC and CNN. Tsering’s feature articles have been published in numerous international journals and magazines. Tsering is an Associate Professor at The University of British Columbia, Canada.
