Representing Remarkable Writers

Spellbinding Trilogy from Teen Author Sold to Gollancz

28 January 2014

We are delighted to have struck a deal with Gollancz, Orion for a trilogy written by 17-year-old author Anna Caltabiano.

The first in the series, The Seventh Miss Hatfield, will be published on 21 July 2014 and features time-travel, Nineteenth Century New York, unrequited love and a plot to steal a mysterious portrait. Elegantly written with an engaging heroine and a compelling plot full of deception, misdirection and historical detail, The Seventh Miss Hatfield is sure to capture readers’ imaginations.

Anna say: “I am thrilled to be working with such a well-regarded publisher and with an editor who believes in me and shares my vision. While I hope my trilogy will be enjoyed by readers of all ages, I write from the perspective of young adults going through critical transitions in their lives. This trilogy explores first love, first loss, and the first realization that memories are fragile.”

The story follows Rebecca, a young American who isn't happy with her life.  When her mysterious neighbour Miss Hatfield invites her in, Rebecca isn’t entirely sure why she says yes. A short while later, Rebecca becomes immersed in her neighbour’s peculiar world – not only does  she discover that Miss Hatfield is immortal, but that she has century-spanning plans. And now, thanks to a drop of water from the Fountain of Youth slipped into her lemonade, Rebecca must take up the mantle of Miss Hatfield as well as her immortality. But this gift is also a curse…

Born to a Japanese mother and Italian American father in Hong Kong, Anna was educated in Chinese schools before moving to Palo Alto, California, where she now lives down the street from Facebook, Google and Apple. A true child of the digital era, Anna is well-versed in media relations and boasts an impressive social media following, with over 100,000 followers on Twitter already (@caltabiano_anna). Anna will be in the UK for the book’s publication and is available for interview.
