Representing Remarkable Writers

Dr Louise Raw

Louise is a writer, speaker and writer, and the acknowledged authority on the Bryant & May Matchwomen’s strike of 1888.

Her research on the matchwomen ‘changed British labour history’ (Professor Mary Davis), proving that the strike was of immense historical importance, previously misinterpreted and neglected by historians - the true story of the wild and wonderful women of Bryant & May was far more interesting and colourful than the orthodox version.

Louise has a popular monthly newspaper column and appears regularly on television.

‘A great story with a terrific cast of characters…’ (The Times)
