Representing Remarkable Writers

Margaret Hanbury founded her literary agency in 1983 at the suggestion of J.G. Ballard, who she continued to represent worldwide until 2009. The agency represents its clients worldwide and works hard to arrange overseas publication of authors' work. We are members of The Association of Authors' Agents and have a reputation for reliability and success.

The client base ranges from novelists to historians, including popular culture and current affairs. We were at the forefront of the 'celebrity memoir' phenomenon with Katie Price's first autobiography.  The agency represents several professional ghostwriters and is experienced in forming successful partnerships.

Katherine Ailes graduated with a First Class degree in English Literature from Cambridge University in 2010. She joined the Agency in June 2017, having previously worked as an editor for Guardian Faber, Jonathan Cape and The Bodley Head.
